Day 1: Arrival in Leh
Fly to Leh (Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport). Spend the day resting, and walking in short intervals. In the evening, you will be taken for panoramic views of the sunset at the Shanti Stupa and also around the Leh Market.
Day 2: Leh Local Sightseeing
Start your Ladakh expedition with visits to Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, and the popular Hemis Monastery. Later, visit Leh Palace and Hall of Fame which is a museum dedicated to the former Indian soldiers. This will help you to understand more about the Ladakhi culture, Buddhist heritage and Indian army power and sacrifice.
Day 3: From Leh to Nubra Valley: Through Khardung La
Take an adventurous journey through one of the highest road that is motorable in the world, the Khardung La Pass (18,380 ft) to Nubra Valley, home to magnificent green landscapes. Visit Diskit Monastery and go on a double – humped camel rides, in the cold desert of Hunder. An overnight at a Nubra Valley camp/ guest house.
Day 4: Nubra to Pangong Lake
Go on scenic route from Nubra to Pangong Tso via the Shyok River. Located at an altitude of 14270 ft, Pangong Lake is known to possess changing blue colors and comes encircled with beautiful views. Sleep under the lakeside tents and be overwhelmed by one of the strangest starry skies.
Day 5: Pangong to Leh
Go back to Leh through the Chang La Pass. On the way, halt at Tangtse village and have hot Maggi and tea at the road-side dhabas. Arrive at Leh by evening and relax or do some shopping of souvenirs like Pashmina shawls and Tibetan handicrafts.
Day 6: Leh to Kargil via Lamayuru
Go to Kargil with en-route visit to Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and lunar like landscape of Lamayuru Monastery. This trip by road through Srinagar-Leh Highway provides an unbeatable scenery of the Indus and the Zanskar Rivers. Overnight stay in Kargil.
Day 7: Kargil to Leh & Departure
Drive back to Leh, taking the final views of Ladakh’s rough beauty. If time is available, you may take a short detour to see the Drass War Memorial before you leave. End your trip with images of peaceful lakes, enigmatic monasteries, and the nice hospitality of Ladakh.
